A small nest for the first three years.
Nidola grew out of two maternities and a shelf that kept ending up with the same eight pieces. Here is the story — short.
The beginning
We started buying for the first baby in 2022 and finished in 2024 with a shelf that kept circling back to the same eight suppliers: a Bavarian brush maker, a Portuguese knitwear atelier, a Jura wood turner, a Polish willow weaver, a muslin mill in Portugal, an Italian knit workshop, a Basque cot-bedding maker, a Swiss music-box atelier. By the second baby in 2025, we realised that list was our real birth list.
Our commitment
Thirty pieces. Not three hundred. No new collection every season. The selection grows slowly, sometimes shrinks, and every addition replaces something. We publish the names of our fourteen workshops, their addresses and the date of our last visit. Where we have never visited, we say so.
Our materials
GOTS-certified organic cotton, OEKO-TEX textiles, European beech from sustainably managed forests, Hevea brasiliensis rubber pressed in one piece, borosilicate glass, mulesing-free merino wool. We do not sell polyester as fill except in the winter sleeping bag (where it does its job better than wool while staying light), and we do not sell flame-retardant foams.
The team
We are three — a founder, a co-founder and a person who handles customer service and shipping. We work out of Lyon. We answer emails within 48 working hours (often sooner). If something breaks and you write to us, we replace the part for free for two years and charge workshop cost after. We do not store your email for marketing.
